Podsafe Holiday Cheer

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Just a few quickies that I found fun:

The Podsafe Christmas Podcast – Need some podsafe Christmas music? Check this site out every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas for nice songs that are podsafe – meaning that you can use them in your podcasts. Nice work, Ed! Note: If you utilize podsafe music, always, Always, ALWAYS remember to site your sources! ;)

Podsafe Christmas Song – this is an oldie (2005) but a goodie. I’m surprised I haven’t heard of this before, but I was never before aware/concerned about podsafe music (until my friend Mara suggested I add some Christmas music for the latest podcast episode.) This song is by Jonathan Coulton and is a take-off on the Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas song (I still want a hula hoop!)

Take that RIAA!!

What I want for Christmas

If anyone asks, I want one of these for Christmas.  (I wish he had a helmet cam on when he did this!)

Thinkfinity is a wealth of resources

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Tired of Googling for educational resources and having to cull through the results? Why not just go right to Thinkfinity.org and start your search there? Teachers can find lesson plans, interactive activities, photographic and multimedia resources – so many good things for the classroom. There are even special parts of the site geared for students, parents, and para-educators.

I participated in an online training class, and my teacher, Marcia Torgrude, was kind enough to record a podcast with me all about Thinkfinity. You can listen to it at www.twentyfortech.com, episode 20.

The Vanishing Frog airs Nov. 20th

Dave Solon interviewing Jeff CorwinI’m both excited (and saddened) that Jeff Corwin’s special on “The Vanishing Frog” is airing on Animal Planet this Thursday, November 20, at 8pm. I’m excited to watch it since Jeff talked with me about it earlier this year for the podcast. I’m saddened that the frog is losing its battle for survival.

Before you watch it, use this clip from the podcast with your students as a teachable moment, and lesson plans complements of Discovery Education.
